The Vishnupad Temple in Gaya, Bihar is a sacred ancient Hindu temple on the banks of the Falgu River, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is built around the Dharmashila, a sacred rock bearing Lord Vishnu’s 40 cm footprints, believed to mark where he subdued the demon Gayasura centuries ago. The magnificent octagonal temple was reconstructed in 1787 by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar and features towering granite architecture with carved pillars and a gold flag atop its shikhara. Perform the sacred ritual of Pitru Moksha with devotion
Gaya Ji is named after a demon named Gayasur, who had attained special powers through severe penance. For the welfare of the people, Lord Vishnu placed his foot on Gayasur and granted him salvation. It is believed that where the Lord's foot fell, the Vishnupad temple was established, and Gayasur's body turned into the mountain ranges of Gaya. That is why Gaya is called Pitru Moksha Tirtha.

🧘♂️ Purpose of Pind Daan:
Pind Daan is performed for the peace of the departed soul and for the departure of the Pitrulok. This karma is performed on the date of the deceased person, or especially in Pitru Paksha. Pind Daan performed with devotion and a calm mind ensures the grace and blessings of the ancestors.
