Vikram Samvat was started by King Vikramaditya. In his court was the famous astronomer Varahamihir, who had studied the movement of the Sun, Moon and planets in depth. It was he who proposed to officially celebrate Vikram Samvat as a calendar. This Samvat runs 57 years ahead of the Gregorian calendar. For example, the year 2024 + 57 = 2081 Vikram Samvat is going on, and Vikram Samvat 2082 will start in 2025.
Chaitra Navratri and Devi Upasana
